Anyone that knows Kingsland will also know that our sunny boutique salon-by-the-station was recently rebranded. We went from the inherited Strickzin Salon to the shiny new Laboratorie.

Rebranding for us was about way more than a sharp, sassy logo and image. It was about imprinting our own culture on the space that clients come to be transformed in. In this day and age, most businesses are aware that they need to understand their own culture, and ours is very simple.

What sets us apart is the service offered by a small, friendly team, all of whom are regularly educated to upskill and stay ahead of fashion and beauty trends. The unique quality that our clients enjoy comes from the team’s effort to give every client this experience in a genuine, warm environment.

It’s important to balance real-life client needs and aspirations with the latest styles coming out of leading industry influencers like international Fashion Weeks and even local competitions. So, I felt super-proud to be invited to New York for work with the Renya and Wella team at New York Fashion Week 2017/2018, then Mercedes Benz Fashion Week 2018 Sydney. It was an unforgettable experience and although I like to think I know my job very well, I learnt a few things from some amazing people too. In addition to this, I was a finalist in the Wella Trend Vision hair competition three years running.

It’s attending events like this that reminds me we are all constantly learning, and that curiosity and passion for extending knowledge is what enables us to stay relevant. It’s imperative that we do this for our clients’ sake, so we can offer them a variety of options before they choose what’s right for their lifestyle and persona.
